ESRB Reveals Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is Coming Soon

An updated ESRB database has revealed Capcom's plans to bring its number one arcade hit, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 to Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360. The xbox game has received a "T" (for Teen) rating.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 pits Capcom's legendary characters and Marvel's world famous super heroes against each other for dream matches of epic proportions. The game features more than 50 playable characters. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 also delivers new innovations with real three-on-three tag team matches and numerous modes of play.

In 2002, the game was released for the Xbox and it included all the features from the arcade version. We expect the XBLA version to take advantage of 1080p visuals and other Xbox 360 features.

Xbox Live Deal of the Week: Alien Hominid HD

Microsoft announced today that this week's Xbox Live Deal will be Alien Hominid HD. Normally priced at 800 Microsoft Points, xbox game Alien Hominid HD will be available this week for 400 Microsoft Points, a savings of 50%. As an added bonus, players who own Alien Hominid HD (and have received at least one achievement) will unlock the playable Alien character for Castle Crashers, Xbox LIVE Arcade’s Game of the Year for 2008.

Terminator Salvation Screenshots

Based on the upcoming “Terminator Salvation” film, the xbox game offers players the chance to assume the role of John Connor, a soldier in the resistance, battling for survival against the far superior forces of Skynet.

Terminator Salvation – The Videogame is a third-person action game with concentrated armed combat against all of the Skynet enemies from the film while encountering new enemies specifically designed for the game.

The game was developed by GRIN Studios, published by Equity Games, co-published by Evolved Games and distributed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

MS Announces New DLC for Halo 3 and Gears of War 2

Microsoft officially announced today the release date of some downloadable content for xbox games Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 that we have told you about over the last few weeks. On March 31, a week after the roll out of the third title update for the game, Epic Games will release the Snowblind map pack for Gears of War 2. Then on April 9, Microsoft will release the Mythic Map Pack for Halo 3.

Spring is nearly here, and with it comes new life for some of this generation’s biggest, most action-packed xbox games, exclusively on Xbox LIVE. With more than 35 million in combined sales, the “Halo” and “Gears of War” franchises have set the bar for multiplayer xbox games on the console. Now players of “Halo 3” and “Gears of War 2” will see the multiplayer experiences made even better by great new Game Add-ons.

On March 31, the Snowblind map pack gives “Gears of War 2” players a chance to cool off with four new, winter-themed environments: Grindyard, Under Hill, Courtyard, and a frozen version of the “Gears of War” favorite, Fuel depot. Hot on the heels of Snowblind comes the highly-anticipated “Halo 3” Mythic Map Pack, releasing April 9 with three new maps: Assembly, Orbital and Sandbox. Both Game Add-ons will be available only on Xbox LIVE for 800 Microsoft Points.

In addition to the exclusives mentioned above, Xbox 360 is the only console where you can extend your play with Game Add-ons from many of the year’s top xbox games. From “Fallout 3” episode The Pitt (March 24) to the “Left 4 Dead” Survival Pack (April 21), publishers from across the industry recognize that Xbox LIVE is the premier online gaming destination, and a one-stop shop for Game Add-ons.

GTA IV Breaks Entertainment Launch Records

Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (BAWSAQ: TTWO), said today that Grand Theft Auto IV has surpassed all-time entertainment records for day one and week one sales by dollar value. Released on Tuesday, April 29th, Grand Theft Auto IV, the critically acclaimed video game, has sold through to consumers approximately 6 million units globally with an estimated retail value of more than $500 million in the first week. Grand Theft Auto IV sold approximately 3.6 million units on its opening day with a retail value of approximately $310 million globally.

"We knew GTA IV would break new ground in terms of the player's experience, with its compelling story line, extraordinary gameplay and action that ranges over a broad urban canvas. Now, it has broken sales and rating records as well. GTA IV 's first week performance represents the largest launch in the history of interactive entertainment, and we believe these retail sales levels surpass any movie or music launch to date. We congratulate the entire Rockstar team on creating a must-have experience that takes the legendary Grand Theft Auto franchise to a new level," said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two.

Potential Take Two takeover could delay GTAIV

Celtic Snipers are a little late on this Xbox news , but cover it we must for it concerns what may be the biggest release of 2008. Yes, GTA IV. Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan has a somewhat worrisome prediction regarding EA's courtship of Take Two. In a recent episode of Bonus Round, Pach-Attack noted, "I think if EA takes over Take-Two, they have an economic incentive to delay [GTA IV]." The reason for this, naturally, would be to debut GTA IV during the much more lucrative holiday season at the end of the year (as was the original plan for 2007). Pachter says that Take Two can't afford to delay GTA IV on their own because they "need the money."

So there you go. If you didn't have a vested interest in the EA / Take Two saga, you do now (assuming you want some sweet, sweet GTA IV anyway). Let's look on the bright side though. If EA does buy Take Two, that means the Iron Man movie still has a fighting chance, right? In the meantime, GTA IV is still scheduled to release on xbox 360 at the end of this month. Keep any eye here at Celtic Snipers for the latest info.

Good Luck to xX Kinetic Xx

Our very own "xX Kinetic Xx" is heading to CGS in Birmingham next week with the hopes of obtaining a pro gaming contract playing xbox games, worth a minimum of $30,000. He came 3rd in his online qualifier and has since beeen practicing day and night in order to get his hands on the money.

The tournament is a week long of playing against the other competitors and on the final day the players will be selected. With major competition experience gained in WCG 2006, let's hope that he can bring home the dollars!!!
